Matildas Campeón Nutmeg Fall Classic

Sunday, October 1st.

Matildas FC reached the final of the Nutmeg Fall Classic tournament to face River Surge for the second time in the tournament. The final was scheduled to kick off at 1:00 pm. Matildas welcomed back a couple of players who had been absent due to injury, Clarissa and Chimo, which would provide the team with more options for substitutions and rest for our players.

As is customary in any final, the pace started off fast for both sides. Matildas was constantly on the hunt for the opponent's goal, with a goal disallowed for offside in the 5th minute and a couple of occasions where Valentina found herself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but those were also ruled offside. The first half ended 0-0.

In the second half, both teams maintained their high tempo until the 15th minute when Lupita scored with a well-placed cross, making it 1-0. Our players didn't let up, and Clarissa added a second goal, making it 2-0. In the last 10 minutes of the game, Matildas solidified their defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and Matildas were crowned champions of the Nutmeg Fall Classic.

El Matildas FC llegó a la final del torneo Nutmeg Fall Classic para enfrentarse al River Surge por segunda vez en el torneo. La final estaba programada para comenzar a la 1:00 pm. Matildas recibió de vuelta a un par de jugadoras que habían estado ausentes debido a lesiones, Clarissa y Chimo, lo que proporcionaría al equipo más opciones de sustituciones y descanso para nuestras jugadoras.

Como es habitual en cualquier final, el ritmo comenzó acelerado para ambos lados. Matildas estuvo constantemente en busca del gol rival, con un gol anulado por fuera de juego en el minuto 5 y un par de ocasiones en las que Valentina se encontró mano a mano con la portera, pero también fueron anuladas por fuera de juego. El primer tiempo terminó 0-0.

En el segundo tiempo, ambos equipos mantuvieron su alto ritmo hasta el minuto 15, cuando Lupita anotó con un certero centro, poniendo el marcador 1-0. Nuestras jugadoras no bajaron el ritmo, y Clarissa añadió un segundo gol, haciendo el marcador 2-0. En los últimos 10 minutos del juego, Matildas consolidó su defensa. El árbitro pitó el final, y Matildas se coronó campeón del Nutmeg Fall Classic.
